The Platform Without a Terminal: Why a Command Line Should Never Stand Between You and Your Data

1. Where Does the Provider's Responsibility End?

Frappe Cloud, like any managed PaaS, runs on a shared-responsibility model. The provider guarantees that the Linux servers stay up and that the database, Redis and Nginx are stable. If a server fails, they fix it. That is where their responsibility stops.

But a server does not understand accounting. If your trial balance will not balance, if a bill of materials costs a routing step wrong, or if a tax provision comes out inaccurate, that is not an infrastructure problem and the team managing the metal cannot solve it. Managely holds both layers — the infrastructure and the system running on it — so you are never standing between two vendors who each point at the other.

2. The Bill That Punishes You for Succeeding

Frappe Cloud's metered plans are bounded by CPU and RAM, so crossing your ceiling moves you to a bigger plan. In a sandbox that looks cheap. In production it is a line you cannot forecast.

When finance runs a heavy general-ledger query during the month-end close, or you process payroll for hundreds of staff, consumption spikes and the invoice spikes with it. You pay the most in the month you worked the most. Managely's price is fixed, and scaling happens through workers and multiple servers on our side of the line, not on your invoice.

3. Tax Compliance Is Not an Add-On You Buy

Egypt's ETA e-invoicing and Saudi Arabia's ZATCA Phase 2 require live integrations and generated cryptographic stamps. Frappe Cloud does not provide that: you get a running ERPNext instance, and compliance remains a project on your side.

So you hire a developer to build a custom tax module. Then the authority updates its interfaces, the custom code breaks, and your invoicing stops until that developer is free to repair it. This is the substantive difference. The Frappe Cloud console, like platform consoles generally, speaks developer: sites, branches, bench commands, SSH access. Powerful tools in an engineer's hands — and in a business owner's or an accountant's hands, a weapon pointed at their own data.

A terminal never asks "are you sure?". One delete in the wrong path, a migration run against production instead of the sandbox, a root credential handed to an untrained pair of hands — and none of it can be undone.
